as much as am obsessed with finance, i have to admit sometimes my judgement clouds a lot of reasoning when it comes to looking at things holistically. I just finished reading the State Of Nation address and I have to say from the look of things the government is trying. i really feel more can be done towards education. the fundamental mistake we make is the inability to discern the importance of human capital. i still believe that from primary school certain competencies need to be developed with kids and those kids trained in their field of interest. hell i could be at the International Space Station(ISS) had i pursued my dreams of being an astronaut.
Back to the matter at hand, i am really glad the power generation capacity will increase threefold. economics 101 teaches us when a service or product is in abundance, the price should go down, so am expecting a decrease in BPC tariffs. but then again its in theory....
issues of sci-tech seem to be eluding us. increasing investment in R&D, identifying key strategic partners and alliances in ICT can help us develop and innovate. the current allocation to r&d is way too below. intellectual property can be fast tracked if r&d is determined to be of crucial importance. then and only then we can fully appreciate the importance of research when we start our business.
in the meantime keep reading, stay informed, research, innovate and be empowered

A decrease in tariffs. The Fox are you insane. The Botswana Government got a $1bn loan for that Power station and you expect them to lower tarrifs. What world are you living in as it is not in the capitalist one. Tarrifs will go up as the government has to make money to pay back that loan. Also the Government should not continue to have these social programs in effect. Look at japan for example, welfare states FAIL!!!
ReplyDeletethanks for such an 'enlightening information'. Comments like yours are needed to enlighten...

ReplyDeleteI sense a bit of sarcasm from your comments Carlosdave. I thought this was a forum where people could exchange their views and opinions and were parties could respond to the issues at hand and and not the person.
ReplyDeleteHowever being an individual who does not worry about trivial matters, I will not be fazed by the above, I just wish that you could have responded so that an intelligent debate could take place
thats where you missing my point dear enlightened one...this is not a platform for debate for it entertains usage of words like 'insane' and so forth. dont matter anyways more post will come where you can feel free to debate as followers populate the blog. in the meantime i am looking forward to posts on your blog. trust me your contribution is highly regarded.
ReplyDeleteSo is this a one way platform. I.e A dictatorial blog. I thought that you...... forget it. Good luck with your one way platform which does not incorporate other peoples views and comments.
ReplyDeleteu r putting words into my mouth...please lets not submit to hurtful adjectival descriptions, no? thanks.
ReplyDelete"this is not a platform for debate for it entertains usage of words like 'insane' and so forth" Carosdave
ReplyDeleteThe above kind sir is DICTATORIAL tendencies. You should look at whether you are going to respond to the content of peoples comments and not be sarcastic in your approach to them (. i.e above your response above to my initial post "thanks for such an 'enlightening information'. Comments like yours are needed to enlighten..."
I felt that was not appropriate as you could have just responded to the SUBJECT MATTER!!
But lets get to the topic at hand here, what is your response to my comment Carlosdave?? Im eagerly awaiting to read it
ReplyDeleteno comment
ReplyDeletei admire ur energy cde
ReplyDeleteand i mean respond to the content of my post and not to me. Two entirely different things :-)
ReplyDeletehence no comment...i post my thoughts not debate topics hence no comment to that...and you could have just commented witjout declaring my insanity coz thats a response TO ME not to the post.... ;-)
ReplyDeletewhy are u deleting my posts??? is this a dictatorial blog or is freedom of information championed here?
ReplyDeleteYou have NO comment (another dictatorial tendency)
ReplyDeleteKindly enlighten me carlosdave... what is the purpose of this blog?? how are you going to attract readers to this blog if you are dictatorial and do not comment or defend your statements. Why have this blog, if it is just one-sided??
I would really appreciate it if you would respond so you get a following of people who can educate us.. But if you carlosdave act as a "Dear Leader" ( or Kim Jong-il's protege) I will not follow your posts anymore
What does cde mean??
Carlosdave... I sense that this is not a blog where different people are accepted. Good luck!!! when my friend referred me to this blog and when i read your thoughts I thought wow, someone at last as a brain in botswana. You do have a brain carlosdave, however you are too rigid in you saying you do not comment. Thoughts are dynamic never changing, there are not static, and such comments such as no comment should not be allowed as a matter of principle. However you have decided to be insane and dictatorial in your approach. Hitler and the Dear Leader are insane. Good luck emulating them
ReplyDeletewow...we need people like you in Parliament...your choice of words, the way you structure your 'arguments'. So i am forced to post comments as long you comment? wow! interesting...u veered from the point: by calling me insane you were addressing ME not the POST. hence no comment. clearly you cannot relate a chain of thought properly as long as you voice what is in your mouth, reminds me of Julius Malema. but as i said post something on your blog as well so respond to IT not YOU...as of now your blog is still empty...o __ O. regards.
ReplyDeletePS: meant to be CBE, google it, do something useful in the internet than attack bloggers. actions speak louder than words enlightened noe, act =blogpost, talk = it walks....lol
and you have a sensory overdrive: '...i sense..' ...'i sense...' wow!respect my decision not to comment do not ridicule it to inflate your void. 'void'...lol! but i enjoyed the wordplay...No Further Comment till i see a post on your blog.
ReplyDeleteI give up!! You are a dictator. you personalize comments just like the people in the newspapers. You lack OBJECTIVITY.
ReplyDeleteYou have ONLY responded to the fact that I referred to you as insane (which was not an attack on you sir)in my first post but not on the issue at hand about ELECTRICITY TARIFFS!! you have lacked to provide your insight into that.
I will not go down to that level of personal attacks as I am The Enlightened!!
I apologize for calling you insane. I will re-post my post as it has clearly touched a nerve :-)
The carlosdave accepted re-post :-)
ReplyDeleteA decrease in tariffs. T think that may be msguided.
